The Congress government in Shimla has announced the launch of ‘Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojna’ scheme, which offers education loans at an interest rate of one percent to underprivileged students who cannot afford higher and professional studies. The scheme aims to provide Rs. 200 crore of financial aid to the poor children of families with an annual income of less than Rs. 3 lakh, and covers courses ranging from engineering, medical, and management to nursing, among others.
