The Indian Maritime University-Visakhapatnam, Dredging Corporation of India, and Sagarmala could form a special purpose vehicle to establish two dredger simulators worth ₹20 crore ($2.7m) at IMU campus in Visakhapatnam. The collaboration could address training needs and gaps in the industry, and provide advanced courses to meet the DG Shipping guideline. The simulators are likely to be installed at IMU to benefit inland waterways. No specific course is available for cutter suction dredgers, meaning the simulators would also help train operators for these vessels. IMU has already introduced several management programs in the maritime sector.
